Type-in Programs in BASIC
In the 1970s and 1980s,
type-in programs
were fairly common for 8-bit home computers, and a vast number has been published
in books and magazines, usually small games written in BASIC.
David H. Ahl’s BASIC Computer Games from 1978 is probably the most
popular publication of its kind, and the first computer book to sell a million
copies. Today, most are long out of print, but have thankfully been archived
in various places. With some effort, the sources can be ported to FORTRAN.
